About Justice Numbers
What we are
Justice Numbers is the public face of the Platform for Statistics, Indicators and Open Data on Justice, which represents a milestone in the digital transformation of the Portuguese justice system. Developed by the Directorate-General for Justice Policy (DGPJ) under the Recovery and Resilience Plan, this platform was created to expand information services and products about justice, engaging professionals, researchers and civil society in more informed evaluation and debate.
What we do
We integrate data from multiple sources within the Portuguese justice system — judicial and administrative courts, registries and notaries, police forces, prison services and other entities — into a technologically advanced platform that provides:
• Official statistics on justice
• Management indicators to support decision-making
• Open data for reuse by the community
• Tools for analysis and public policy scenario planning
• Interactive visualizations adapted to different user profiles
A platform in continuous evolution
This project represents the integrated evolution of previous systems for collecting and disseminating official Justice statistics, as well as other indicators in the Justice area. We embrace evolution as a process of continuous improvement, progressively expanding integrated data sources and developing new functionalities that respond to users' emerging needs.
The platform incorporates:
• Greater data storage and processing capacity
• Modern and intuitive interfaces based on user experience best practices
• Automated integration with source systems through communication services
• Diverse information presentation through dashboards, maps, infographics and reusable datasets
Our commitment is to ensure the continuous improvement of the platform, enriching it with new content, thematic areas and analytical tools, and ensuring the quality, currency and accessibility of the information provided, in order to respond to the challenges and opportunities of the Portuguese justice system and contribute to a more transparent, efficient and citizen-oriented justice system.
