Justice statistics constitute one of the domains of official statistics, produced by the Directorate-General for Justice Policy (DGPJ) under the powers delegated to it by the National Statistics Institute. The Justice Statistics Information System has its own dedicated website. Números da Justiça redirects users to that website for data exploration and knowledge sharing.

Justice statistics bring together data from multiple sources—most of them services of the Ministry of Justice—and are traditionally organised into four thematic areas: courts, registration and notary services, police and investigation-support bodies, and other statistics.
